Place the fabric front side up, with the short sides at the top and bottom.
Align the zipper to the top edge, with the zipper pull on your left and facing down.
Mark the zipper fabric at the stop and the start.
Slide the zipper down to the bottom edge and mark again.
Flip the zipper over so the pull is on your left and facing up. Add basting tape to the top edge of the zipper fabric.
Line the zipper back up with the top edge of the canvas, zipper facing down.
Sew the top edge of the zipper and canvas together, lining the fabric up with the “10” mark on your right.
Fold the zipper over and crease it with your fingers.
Sew along the edge of the canvas with the zipper facing right.
Fold the canvas so the zipper lines up with the top of the opposite edge, with the back of the zipper facing you. Line up your marks.
Sew with the fabric edge at the “10” mark on your right.
Turn it right side out and crease the edge where the canvas meets the zipper fabric with your fingers.
Sew along the edge of the canvas with the zipper facing left.
Turn it inside out and sew down both the left and right edges.
Crease the bottom center line and sew along it, on both sides.
